The hookah or hookah, also called narguileh, hookah, hookah, shisha, hookah or simply water pipe, is a device used to smoke, usually special tobacco of different flavors, herbs without nicotine or more recently flavored stones. It is of oriental origin, but in recent years it has been implemented in countries of the European Union and America. Although its origin is not known with certainty, it is believed that the practice of smoking originated in India, China or Egypt, about 600 years ago.
Hookah tobacco, also called molasses, is a special type of tobacco for smoking in a hookah. This tobacco has nothing to do with cigarettes, cigars or rolling tobacco, since it is made up of quite fine tobacco leaves washed many times and mixed with honey or similar, in addition to additives to give them some flavor. They also exist without tobacco leaves and only include honey or cane molasses.
In Lebanon, the use of hookah is associated with all types of people without distinction: men, women, children and the elderly. It is usually an object for family use in which all members sit together to talk and smoke. It is also very common at friends' gatherings, accompanied by tea or coffee. In Türkiye the use of hookah is very common, it is a very old tradition. It was being lost, but at the beginning of the 2000s, with the appearance of aromatic and flavored tobacco, young people became interested again in the use of shisha, although the original Turkish tobacco has been lost.
In Spain the use of the hookah, better known as hookah, became popular through tea shops or tea rooms. The entry into force of the anti-smoking law on January 2, 2011 forced tea shops to give up this contraption or use aromatic herbs without tobacco.
